Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist?
A. No. Physiotherapists are primary health care professionals. You can make an appointment and see one any time you wish. Some insurance plans require a referral from a doctor. Please check with your insurance company before booking an appointment.
Q. How much treatment will I need?
A. The amount of treatment you will need will be decided after your first appointment. We will work together and discuss your goals and make a plan. Some patients only need one appointment, some like to check in weekly for a few weeks to make sure they are on the right track. For more long-lasting issues, patients like to book in when they feel it’s appropriate over the course of several years.
Q. I like that I can stay at home for Assessment and follow-up treatments, but what about that machine with the goop?
A. Machines used in clinics, acupuncture needles, joint mobilization / manipulation, and soft tissue release techniques are all forms of passive treatment. This is where you lie down and a clinician is providing treatment to you. Although this can provide a temporary therapeutic relief, it is unlikely that 15 minutes of this passive treatment 1-2x/week is making long term improvements with any clinical significance. At CARYphysio we take an active approach - the focus is on the other 10,050 minutes in your week.
Q. So I can book online, be treated online, and pay online, all without leaving my home / office?
A. Yes, the future is here
Q. Does the video ever freeze? Does this count into my time?
A. Similar to Zoom or Facetime, the audio / video quality is excellent. If a freeze does occur, it will not affect your treatment time. Patients are never booked back to back.
Q. What if I have a question in between sessions?
A. All patients are encouraged to email any questions as frequently as they wish. It is in both of our best interests that you are doing the right thing.
Q. What if my question isn’t listed here?
A. Please feel free to contact me anytime. I’d love to chat and answer any questions you have.
